TAG Heuer’s latest 2019 releases, including the Autavia everyone is talking about

TAG Heuer’s Basel 2019 collection had a particularly clear focus, and that focus was Autavia. It’s a watch inspired by TAG Heuer’s enviable heritage — Autavia is a combination of automotive and aviation, and dates back to when Heuer was making cockpit timers in the 1930s. This latest version is a clear nod to the past, without being a fully blown reissue.

It’s got details to boot too, like Arabic numerals made from solid blocks of luminous material, a series in subtle rich colours that, thanks to their texture and airbrushed finish, are eye-catching and interesting. The insides are also notable, thanks to TAG Heuer’s brand new Isograph technology — the hairspring is made using the proprietary carbon process the brand first showed us in January on the Tourbillon Nanograph. That watch was on hand, too (and did not disappoint the second time around). For women, there was a bunch of new Carreras on offer — and it’s easy to see the appeal of this crisp design paired with a shimmering mother-of-pearl dial. And finally, there’s the Modular Connected Golf Edition, made for people who care about their putting game.

Arman Talwar says:

Had a second look, the dial is very similar to Zenith’s Pilot watches . Its like a powder coated matte dial.
Another thing I noticed is the price and design philosophy – clean, legible, minimal – competing in looks and price with the IWC mark XVII, and Breitling’s new style Navitimer B01 (Basically LVMH base models)

Eric Nielsen says:

What IS the Calibre 5 now? Sellita? ETA?

Lawrie Borchers says:

Not bad for a Tag. Numeral font is a bit too heavy for my liking.

Jimmy S says:

I love the Autavis

Ian Gault says:

Must admit the blue Autavia is sweet

Arman Talwar says:

I hate to admit it, but its achingly beautiful .. Goodness Gracious Me, I want that blue one!

iloper says:

Why not vintage instead of remake?

Craig Johnson says:

Watch nerds, like me, have always dismissed Tag has a fashion brand. But, I must say – these are looking okay. I’m not sure what that app watch really is. I guess it’s Tag being Tag.

Craig Sekowski says:

Brilliant video mates

Luis Ortiz says:

It’s strange that they are going with the full Tag Heuer logo on a retro-inspired design. I thought they had established that retro watches would simply use the Heuer logo, like they did with the Autavia 02 Chrono.

Joseph Rana says:

The Autavia in blue looks amazing. Waiting to see it in person tho

SpaghettiKillah says:

Beautiful watches though i’m getting a Montblanc / Zenith Pilot vibe to their design.
