Tonight, Tim Mosso and Josh Thanos discuss a luxury watch this-or-that pitting Omega’s Aqua Terra 150M against the reborn TAG Heuer Autavia. New Swiss watch export statistics show a fifth consecutive month of luxury watch export growth; is the Swiss luxury watch industry truly rebounding from the great wristwatch sales disaster of 2016? We also discuss new watches from top Swiss watch brands including Ulysse Nardin, Breitling, and Original Grain watches. The New York Yankees’ collaboration with Original Grain watches has led to the arrival of a 2008-piece limited edition luxury watch that includes actual preserved pieces of original 1923 Yankee Stadium bleacher seats. Ulysse Nardin launches its new Executive Moonstruck Worldtimer, a series of 100 pieces in rose gold and platinum. The Ulysse Nardin Executive Moonstruck includes a depiction of the Earth, Sun, Moon, and tides alongside a world time complication and a radial date display. Breitling’s Chronospace B60 takes the company’s famed super quartz luxury quartz watch technology into a more accessible analog format that works like a conventional chronograph. Finally, Tim shares his favorite jump hour watches from Vacheron Constantin, Bulgari, Chronoswiss, and Jean Marcel (with assistance from Vincent Calabrese).

Great talk as usual!
Boys, thoughts about the new Breitling Navitimer DC-3 Chronograph limited edition?
Do you see it becoming a collectable item moving forward?

Cheers,

Kurt Nunn says:

Omega. I feel they made that bezel too thick and numbers too prominent on the Autavia. It loses that feel of those splendid Autavias from the 60s and 70s, where the bezels had more of a purposeful, utilitarian look. Also, the hash marks are missing from the 30 min counter. No tachymeter either. It strikes me as a fluffy attempt at a re-edition. 2014 they came out with the Eberhard Contograf re-edition/tribute to their 60s model of the same name. I think it is much closer to the original, although not exact either. Half the price if you shop.

Horology Blog says:

What a mixed bag today. Full of the rare and unloved references. Interesting stuff

Patrick Naswell says:

Get yourselves to the Jersey Shore, Cape May, Atlantic City, or to Delaware’s Rehobeth Beach! Philly will grow on you!

Watch The Hands says:

God, that VC jumping hour is sooo beautiful…

City of Gentlemen says:

First thing I noticed when visiting HK was the ridiculous amount of watch shops. Just one block probably had more of the holy trinity watch stores than all of USA. From a guy working at a sneaker shop wearing a $13k rolex to 50 year old women wearing men’s Panerais, HK was unbelievable when it came to watches. I even broke down and ended up buying a Panerai while I was there.

CGM Operations says:

This is the Duo. period.

Roger Paris says:

Enjoyed, thanks!

Jeff Jiang says:

What’s the watch on the cover/thumbnail of this video? Silver case with blue straps. Looks amazing!

Tomasina Covell says:

You all voted for Drumpffanzee! ):

highnrising says:

Do you wait until the 8-day Pam is almost wound down or do you wind it every few days, anyway? Does it keep time as well when it’s running on empty?

Alan Klement says:

Josh is always great to watch…Tim’s great w/o saying.

Roelf van der Merwe says:

Tim, can you talk a bit about Squale? I’m curious to hear your opinion.

Matt Ashe says:

Very informative episode and a lot of fun. Great duo.

Andrew Steel says:

Like omega, UN, and Tag…. Don’t know why some people booboo the last. Good video.

Eric Prüß says:

Tim, look up the Sinn 240 St GZ for a sporty watch that shows the tides.
Awesome show guys!

Dawn Blair says:

I loved seeing your wife’s collection. That Hamilton is gorgeous! About the quartz thing… I prefer quartz when it results in a watch being thinner. I have a smaller wrist, and like your wife, I love unisex or men’s watches. So, getting the lug to lug measurement that works is first, and if there’s the choice to have the same watch slightly thinner and lightweight, I prefer to do that. Beyond a certain price point, the movement matters more to me than the thickness. I love all price ranges of watches, but never go for fashion watches.

John GT3 says:

The dynamic duo always rock the house

cybergellan says:

Tim and Josh,

Great vid once again. You two compliment each other very well.

Question for you two — though off-topic from this vid: which do you prefer, the Vacheron 8110 or the Vacheron 43075. I know the first is a manual-wind and the other self-winding, so not a proper comparison. Still, which one would you choose and why?

I’ve seen your reviews on both watches, Tim. And I’m really drawn to both. I like the dial design of the 8110 more than that of the 43075. The case design of both I like equally. But the 43075 displays its beautiful movement, and that is a huge, huge attraction.

Patrick Naswell says:

Agree on the Heuer 01. Must be seen in person if you’re in doubt.

ripperx444 says:

Tag is cool pre owned. Give it some time those will
Be selling for $3500 on second hand market. Best quartz is grand seiko 9F guys!!

Yanran Wang says:

In China, many people feel they need a proper watch when they reach a certain age (35 or 40). Now the age is probably 30.
A reason for HK sales growth could be “daigou”. A lot of people in China do not buy in China but from HK through daigou to get a lower price.

Brad G says:

I’ve been looking at the ABP website, what hide/skins for watch strap cannot be brought into the US?

Slapshot 007 says:

Great show as usual chaps. Quick question though. . What’s with the ikea display type books and papers on the shelves behind you? What happened to all your ACTUAL horology related books that used to be on display? All the best

Jake Roth says:

Josh and Tim, hands down the best combo.

Mathos says:

Same thoughts about the Exospace… too big, but would consider one if it would be smaller. I like the ”swede” blue in contrast with the matte black.

Santiago Del Rio says:

What do you guys think of Michael Kors watches??

Clockunion says:

Look at this site http://clockunion.com/ 😉
