The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Date (Q1548470) is a 2015 SIHH Novelty watch. At 39mm, the watch is also nice and slim. It has a conical bezel paired with slightly cupped case back. JLC is able to expand the lugs thanks to the compactness of the watch. This gives the lugs a graceful arc down as they bend over the wrist.
You’ll also notice that the spring bars are semi-conforming. The spring bars mean that they trace the arc of the case but are not pinned. This allows the strap to be pulled downwards against a smaller wrist. The matte strap is extremely versatile, able to be worn in formal or causal situations. The white metal paired with a black dial creates a visually stunning feature.
The matte black dial is extremely balanced. It is legible and handsome featuring a classic design. The white metal case, hands and indices are all extremely legible. The dart indices are faceted providing a slight twinkle when the light hits it. The dophene hands are slightly frosted allowing for legibility at a glance. The watch is also fully lumed for easy reading in dark situations.
Flipping the watch over, you’ll see the beautiful in-house calibre 899 through the exhibition caseback. It is free sprung so it has a built in resistance to shock induced timing variations.
