Geetings, and welcome to the world of Jaeger-LeCoultre. Today, I’ll be your guide to the master ultra thin moon. This 39 millimeter, white gold timepiece reflects the consummate elegance of both the contemporary master ultra thin case profile and the grace of its beautifully symmetrical slate sunburst dial with radial date and moon phase.
Starting from the outside and working our way in, the watch features a robust and beautifully finished Jaeger-LeCoultre fastened, alternately polished and satin finished logo inscribed pinball. The buckle, weighty and substantial, nevertheless, provides a low traditional profile for this ultra thin watch and easy on the fly adjustment of size.
Now, the watch is paired with a wonderfully complementary ultra thin leather strap. Alligator rectangular scale on the top with a monotone stich and folded edges. Supple calf skin on the underside. It gives way to graceful, almost poetically composed lugs, beautifully slim and tapered. You can see they feature high polish and a hairline bevel that flares at the periphery and narrows as it approaches the junction with the stepped and conical high polished white gold bezel.
Now, you can see there’s pronounced stepped to the joint between bezel and crystal, giving the watch a strong masculine character line that runs the entire circumference of the case in bezel. The bezel itself acting as a beautifully silvered halo to the slate sunburst center. Now, all of the hours indicis are polished, fastened and hand applied, punctuated by a dimple style minutes track and seconds track. The watch featuring centered dauphine style faceted hands for high contrast. Despite the silver on gray motif, the watch has superb legibility. A lanced style seconds hand traces the dial. At six o’clock, you can see the focal point of this dial. A beautiful moon phase with wonderfully symmetrical flanks. Contained within a stepped radial date.
Now, you can see there are two steps down from the plane of the sunburst dial. First to the track of the radial date, and then again down to the beautiful blue and silver moon phase disc.
The watch features superb bilateral symmetries. You can draw an axis straight down from the double index at 12 o’clock through the company marque canyon pinion hands, complications and the index at six. Beautifully balanced, the watch features not just symmetry, but a complimentary character between the silver of the dial and the beautiful reflective, almost mirror polished character of the gold.
Inside, a Jaeger-LeCoultre manufactured Calibre 925/1, you can see the skeletonized golden winding mass with linear cote de geneve and just beneath additional cote de geneve stripes across the bridges of the movement, featuring an open barrel characteristic of ultra thin watch making. It also features sophisticated unidirectional winding with unlubricated ceramic bearings for high efficiency and reduced maintenance needs. As well as a free sprung balance beating away at four hertz or 28,800 vibrations per hour. The free sprung architecture allowing the balance to better take and hold a precise regulation in the facet of bumps, disruptions, and vibrations on the wrist.
Despite the ultra thin case construction, the watch is water resistant to five bar or 50 meters, substantially more than the industry standard for a dress watch of two to three bar, or 20 to 30 meters. Our additional refinements include the watches stop seconds functions, so when you pull out the crown you do stop the seconds hand so you can synchronize the watch precisely against a reference time.
Subtle, beautiful, and thanks to the precious metal, satisfyingly hefty in the hand. You can see this Jaeger-LeCoultre master ultra thin moon and the entire collection of Jaeger-LeCoultre fine time pieces on our website, https://goo.gl/GGMFCH.
