Luxury watch buyers and luxury watch collectors join Tim Mosso for a far-ranging discussion of ceramic cases and premier watch brands, Rolex, IWC, Panerai, and Omega have embraced ceramic watch cases and parts to various extents, but ten year ago, ceramic was supposed to conquer the luxury watch industry. Has the ceramic watch revolution stalled, and who should buy a ceramic watch? We discuss the strengths and weaknesses of ceramic watches. Cartier is a name steeped in a peerless heritage of jewelry, lore, and glamour. But is Cartier a name to be taken seriously in the realm of luxury watches. Tim explains why a Cartier watch, whether the iconic Cartier Tank family or the revitalized Cartier Santos, should be considered by collectors looking at watch brands regarded as luxury by collector consensus. Cartier surprises. We consider the Cartier Santos Large, the Drive de Cartier Extra Flat in steel, and the Calibre de Cartier Diver blue in stainless steel as candidates for your next luxury watch purchase. If you buy luxury watches from independent watch brands or you love independent horology, then today’s announcement of Chanel’s investment in FP Journe might come as a shock. Don’t be disturbed; Chanel has purchased stakes in redoubtable luxury watch properties in the past, and all indications are that the French luxury fragrance specialist is an enlightened despot atop its kingdom of watch properties. Moreover, past investments by luxury majors Audemars Piguet (Richard Mille) and Richemont Group (Greubel Forsey) have demonstrated that even boutique watch brands can exist under the financial umbrella of large corporate parents. Finally, Tim discusses his thoughts regarding the sale of his Jaeger LeCoultre collection, his future plans as a watch collector, future career goals with Watchbox, and why he has no intention to withdraw from his role in the luxury watch collector community. All of these discussions and viewer watch wristshots can be seen this evening on Watches Tonight!

Its funny how normally on watch channels that some people put down the likes of Rolex and Tudor compared to Seiko . Yet offer a Tudor or Seiko as a give away and Tudor wins hands down . Great show as always Tim.
Hi Tim, love the show. I’m never home to watch it live, but I always catch it the next day. My vote is for Tudor. Keep up the great work! I’ll be dealing with the Watchbox soon enough.

Hard to justify spending 5,700 on a oyster perpetual when the equivalent at Grand Seiko will have a greater level of attention in production.
What kind of Seiko are we talking about? Diver? Astron? Courtura? Etc?
