Following the recent launch of the new Navitimer 8 line, Breitling has begun the process of refining and rethinking their core line up, focusing on the concepts of air, sea, and land. Dipping a burley toe into the open seas, the newly resized Superocean II B01 Chronograph 44 puts Breitling’s in-house B01 movement in a smaller and more balanced case to further bolster the roster of Breitling’s best-selling line of watches.
Available in versions with black, blue, or silver dials, the Superocean II B01 Chronograph 44 carries the design legacy from Breitling’s earliest dive watches, though translated for a modern (and larger) wrist with 200m water resistance and your choice of a rubber strap or a Milanese mesh bracelet. Here are some thoughts on the transformation. For the full story, go to https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/breitling-superocean-heritage-ii-b01-new-video

What a waste of time and energy, utter garbage
Breitling took Breitling out of Breitling.
I like what Breitliing has brought to Baselworld. However, I wish some of the models (including this one) came in smaller sizes, such as a 40mm. Cheers, Mike K
How did James switch from AblogToWatch to Hodinkee? Left Ariel? haha
What’s up with the date window? Sloppy
didnt this guy used to work for ablogtowatch or am I crazy ?
I love this style of watches. Breitling had been going down the path of ostentatious and blingy designs, but is now becoming more classy yet again. The Superocean Heritage, Transocean, and Navitimer 8 lines of watches are very handsome designs. Masculine, but not too in-your-face. I like the way Breitling is going. The only thing I’m less happy about is that my Limited edition Transocean Chronograph with the panda dial is suddenly not limited anymore, as all B01 models now get these panda dials.
Kern is sucking any and all soul/ character out of Breitling.
such a dull watch, never understood the people who say “the heritage superocean *insert variety* is the nicest Breitling ever”, and there’s many of those people..
Not so sure about that date window – seems a bit wonky.
It looks like they now included a ceramic bezel. A must a this price point…
Bezel thickness to sub dial ratio is off.
+1 for clear case back
-1 for date window placement
-1 for size ratio mentioned above
I don’t like the hands.
That window is killing me, terrible location and does not set into the correct position in the silver dial. Something so simple but got it so wrong
Well I am not a big fan of this watch BUT I am a big fan of the B01 movement. Its simply one of the best chronographs on the market.
Why is the date aperture slightly off through the whole video. At that price range I kinda expect exactness in build quality.
$7650 for a watch with a $500 movement?
All I can focus on the the date in the window not lining up. What an incredible lapse in QC. As my high school gym teacher used to say, “bonehead play!”
Wasn’t James originally with ABlogToWatch??
I actually like the design of the Superoceans. But for me 40-42mm is a good size for this style of watch. Going any larger just does not look right in my eyes for the average sized human being.
All HODINKEE videos from Bazel look and sound as lame advertisement… What happened? You should ditch the scripts.
Lulled me to sleep
So will these new Super Ocean II models all be chronos and will the larger 46mm still be available in three-hand automatics like years past?
Glad they matched the date window with the color of the dial for all three color variants.
