Breitling Colt Automatic Ref. A1738011/B784 Watch Review

Breitling Colt Automatic features a 41mm stainless steel case and unidirectional bezel with engraved diver’s scale. The dial is black with applied baton hour indices with luminous fills, printed white railroad minute track, date aperture at 3 o’clock, and polished-finish center hands that contain luminous fills. Powering this Colt Auto is a COSC-chronometer certified Breitling 17 (Base ETA 2824-2) self-winding caliber that boasts a 42-hour power reserve. Watch is on a stainless steel Breitling Professional bracelet with folding clasp.

One of my favorite late-model Breitlings. There’s about a million references in Gretchen’s catalog, but nicely-sized modern sports watches like this rarely get the fanfare over the “Bentleys” and “Super Avenger IIs.” Score one for the traditionalists on the Breitling design team.

If I remember correctly the ISO 6425 requires the presence of an indication that the watch is running in total darkness. This is usually indicated by a running second hand with a luminous tip or tail. but the Breitling Colt lacks a luminous second hand so…
