The 41mm 18k rose gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph Ref. 26320OR has incredible heft and hugs the wrist nicely. It also sits fairly flat for a chronograph at only 11mm. But the weight of the watch itself is the real story, especially for a sports watch that can be considered an everyday wear. This is also a watch that you can arguably dress up and is definitely one that will fit under a tight sleeve or dress cuff.

Brushed finishing stands out the most when looking at the watch for the first time even though slight flickers of polishing are found here and there. Probably one of the best finished watches in the industry, this Gerald Genta design commands attention and longs to be worn. Seductive and sexy, this AP doesn’t apologize for being ostentatious. The brushed finishing on the case is harsh and has a definite shimmer unlike other brushed finishings in the industry. When looking at the side of the case, the edges make a sharp turn toward the wrist in order for the 41mm case to hug a smaller wrist. The case back is also solid gold and the outline of the case back has a sandblasted finish, so that sparkle is even more prominent. The crown and pushers are screw down as well in order to reinforce the 50m water resistance.

The dial is also iconic and in the black adds a nice contrast to the bright rose gold. The dial is constructed with the grand tappiserie pattern that adorns most royal oak models. This pattern adds a depth and dimension that a classic lacquered dial does not. The subdials, in contrast, are not finished in this pattern and have a slight, circular guilloche that highlights them. Unobstructed and symmetrical, this dial compliments the watch beautifully and adds a rich tone to the overall aesthetic.

If AP had decided to leave a display back it would be perfect to me. I know more gold, but the chronograph movement is beautiful and would make the watch so much more sophisticated with a sapphire display back in my opinion.
